The Verge reports that OS X Mavericks uses the light ambient sensors, used to turn on the backlit keyboard and dim the display, to sense if a person is near the Mac. If that is the case, then Mavericks delays the time it takes the Mac to activate the sleep mode.

Clever. This is what I call attention to details. It’s small things like these that give customers that wow factor when they use an Apple product.
