This morning I got delivery of the new iPhone 5s 32GB, space grey.
The device is obviously not that different from the iPhone 5 but three things differentiate it from the other model:
- The design of the home button
- The clicking sound of the home button. It’s more metallic now
- The colour is distinctively grey rather than dark grey like in the iPhone 5.
Setup was a bit of a pain because the iPhone I received still had iOS 7.0.2. The result was that the restore via iCloud got stuck at about 20%. As soon as I updated it to 7.0.3 via iTunes, I was able to restore my data. Restoring my old backup took maybe three minutes, a little longer to download all apps.
Regarding the new features, I think I’m going to love Touch ID. It’s going to take a while to get used to it but it’s definitely something that I’ve appreciated from the first time I used it.
Other than that, it’s business as usual.
