This is interesting. If you’re using a Retina MacBook Pro 2014 model, you might have noticed that the model name under Apple menu —> About This Mac —> More Info is incorrect.

Instead of seeing your Mac model you see a random number. The solution comes from this :

1. Close System Information if it’s open.
2. In the Finder, click the Go menu and choose Go To Folder.
3. Type ~/Library/Preferences and then press the Go button.
4. Find the file “com.apple.SystemProfiler.plist” and drag it to the Trash.
