This is another example of Evernote spreading itself past its primary scope. I want Evernote sync to be fast and reliable, and I want their apps to be world-class. That’s not true today, and until it is, additions like Context have me wondering if its time to move on from the service.
I’ve had a hate/love relationship with Evernote, more hate than love to be honest. I’ve always found it heavy and slow, particularly on iOS devices.
At the beginning it excelled in note taking and data collection, but I’ve started having my doubts on Evernote’s plans after they started adding alerts, and a whole range of apps pluggable into the main software. It’s obvious that Evernote feels they need to become a platform to survive, but I am not sure if this is good for users.
Lately I’ve been experimenting with Together 3, the good old Yojimbo, (fantastic) and even Notes.app (which has improved a lot by the way). Evernote is already on the list of apps to delete once I manage to reliable transfer all notes stored in it.
