AppleInsider reported that:
Jean-Claude Biver, the head of the company’s watch brands, revealed to CNBC that the head of the company’s sales left last week for Apple. He claimed that Apple apparently plans on marketing its product as “Swiss made” to add an air of credibility when pitching it to consumers.
This gets me very interested.
I wonder how the appointment of an executive from a Swiss watch maker affects Apple’s strategy. Let me be clear here. If Apple hired a director coming from the watch industry, Apple might not target the iWatch to the geeks. Apple could market the iWatch to people who actually love watches.
A comment from a colleague of mine enamoured with his expensive watches made me think this way. He said something along the line of “holy smokes, I could actually get an iWatch if it is a real watch”.
The bottom line is that Apple might be getting ready to revolutionize the watch industry, in the same way it did for computers, music, phones and movies.
