This is the best way to start a post:
Four out of five of you are nerds. On your computer exists your hobbies, your current and/or future career, and the rest of your daily life. You don’t own a snowboard, but you do have a blog, a Twitter, an RSS reader, and a pirated copy of Photoshop.
You, my friend, need an Anything Bucket.
I found it on Shawn Blanc’s blog while searching for information on Yojimbo.
In case you’re wondering,… yes, I have purchased Yojimbo.
First things first. I don’t know how I ended up on your page, but I’ve been almost at the same point where you seem to be now. And I also bought Yojimbo. It is a nice app, but it does have certain short-comings…
- Try to synchronize it with more than one Mac. I have not tried the mobileme-Option, and tried Sym-Links and Yojimbo. This works to a certain degree, but if your sql database becomes to big it is frustrating experience.
- You can not add Word documents or any other non-supported file format.
So after a while and after exploring other alternatives (like Together), I settled with a combination of custom filenames, Leap, Hazel, Better Rename and Dropbox. Maybe this helps.
Best,
René
Thanks for the comment René. I’ve got the feeling that I can’t fully appreciate the product yet so feedback is very welcomed.
It’s quite interesting the fact that if the SQL database becomes big, then the program suffers. This worries me a bit…
Correction: I tried sym-links and **Dropbox**. See: http://log.chrisbowler.com/post/2499579278/yojimbo-symlinks and maybe https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2385891?threadID=2385891
