[2013-10-04 Update: iOS 7 solves this problem.]
I really want to use iTunes Match and when it works it’s a fantastic service.
The thing is I’m finding more and more songs that cannot be downloaded onto my iOS devices. For many songs I keep getting the dreaded Unable to download song… could not be downloaded at this time.
The problem seems to be without solution because the issue is with Apple’s servers, it’s got nothing to do with users.
I’ve tried to troubleshoot this problem for weeks without success. In sequence, I’ve tried:
- Deleting the songs from iTunes and re-downloaded them from iTunes Match
- Resetting all content and settings on my iOS devices
- Restored one of my two iOS devices as a new device
- Followed the steps in . Please don’t make that mistake too. After following some of those troubleshooting techniques I had to factory reset as a new device my iPad…
Nothing has worked. The reason I am saying that this is an Apple issue is because I cannot download the same exact songs on three different iOS devices – all updated to the latest iOS.
The result is that I’ve disabled iTunes Match on my personal iPhone and have simply synced it with iTunes. At least I can now listen to all songs.
My iTunes Match subscription is due for renewal in December, I’d like to have a working service by then.
