Throughout the years I’ve collected a number of speeches and interviews that I recorded as MP3 files. These files obviously ended up in my iTunes music collection.
I regularly clean up my iTunes library and one thing that I wanted to do was to transform those speeches in Audio Books. The reason for doing so is that my music collection should only have music, nothing else. I hate when a good shuffle session is interrupted by some old speech.
It’s really easy to make an audio book from an MP3. Follow these steps:
- In iTunes right-click on the speech and select Create AAC Version
- Delete both the MP3 and the newly created AAC file
- Choose the option to Move to Trash the corresponding files
- Open your Trash and look for files with extension
m4a
. These are your AAC files - Drag those files to your Desktop
- Change the extension to
m4b
- Drag all your
.m4b
files to iTunes
Your Audio Books are now stored in the Books section of iTunes. Happy listening!
